My wife has a laundry question. She has a comforter that says ';wash in commercial front load washers';.

The comforter is made of a ';down alternative';. Is it acceptable to wash this at home? Will it harm the comforter at all?My wife has a laundry question. She has a comforter that says ';wash in commercial front load washers';.
Definitely make a trip to the laundromat. Unless it is a twin comforter, I would not wash it in a front load home washer (those would be fine). The front load huge capacity washers at the laundromat are going to handle it much better, it needs room to move around so that it gets washed well throughout. Additionally, the washers there are considered ';extractors'; and will spin at a much higher speed, making drying much easier. The dryers there are much larger as well, although I do recommend taking it out mid-cycle and rearranging it so that it doesn't stay in the same spot and keep wet spots. Good luck!My wife has a laundry question. She has a comforter that says ';wash in commercial front load washers';.
If you have a large capacity washer it should be fine to do it at home if not just take it to the laundry mat and wash it there. Dont forget to follow all the insturctions on the lable.
using a common household clothes washer won't be good for your comforter. the agitator in the center of the machine is the problem. spend a couple bucks and take it to a place where they have commercial washers. you'll be happy with the results
If you have a top loading washer, it will rip the blanket to shreds after having balled the insides up. You are supposed to use the extra large front load washer at the laundromat because it won't rip up your blanket or break the drum loose inside your home front loader that is not made for things so big.
commercial machines have a larger capacity than domestic ones, thats why it says that

squashing it in may not be a good idea, but take it to a laundrette and wash it there and bring it home to dry it
I have a top load washer and I wash my comforters in it. It's a fairly large capacity washer. Just don't wash anything else with it and wash it on the gentle cycle.
yes absulety you can use ,well comforter is use to soften your clothes and amell nice only when u use detergent u have to worry much
it won't hurt the comforter, but your washing machine is a different issue. They say a commercial washer because it has a larger capacity
You need a machine with a large capacity tub.

Could wash it at home but it would be very hard on your washer. For the little it costs,I'd go to the laundromat and be safe.
it is probably too large to wash adequately in a residential washer and well worth the money to have it cleaned professionally.
Front load washers tumble items. Top loaders twist and pull items.

Comforters can be too large to wash in a home machine. This doesn't mean that you have to pay for someone else to wash the item. Commercial front loaders can be found at laundromats and are around $3 per load. The fill in the comforter is less likely to shift in a front loader, plus commercial dryers are huge, and will allow a large item to tumble properly.

Dry on low/delicate setting. Wash warm/cold.
I had one like that. At first I would take it to the cleaners but had to wait a week to get it back. I started washing it in my washer, I have a large size washer but that was not good.

It started getting lumpy.

If I were you, I would take it to the cleaners....especially if you really like the comforter.
The reason it says to do that is because the comforter is too much for a regular washer to handle. It will make the comforter ball up on the inside of the material and make it look lumpy. If you have a front loading washer (one without an agitator) it will be okay for you to wash it at home.

  • How much does it cost to wash and dry an average load of laundry, in average machines?

$1.00 to wash, and a $1.00 to dryHow much does it cost to wash and dry an average load of laundry, in average machines?
ask your mum they know things like that. if just buy new clothes all the time and save time and money washing clothes. How much does it cost to wash and dry an average load of laundry, in average machines?
Not including soap and fabric softener etc, it costs me about $3.50 per load.
1.50 for a small load 2.50 for the bigger machine...dryers are like 25 cents for 10 min...depends on the location
In my area of the world(MD) about $6.00 at a laundramat.
    $3
If you want to do the laundry get a roll of quarters. It takes 3 for the washer and 2 for the dryer.
Where I live, in the laundry room of my apt. complex, it's $1 to wash and .75 - $1 to dry. The .75 dryers are bit older though.
    in Florida its about $6.00
About three to five dollars per load

I need to wash my sheets and cant afford laundry soap until tomorrow?

I have shampoo, dish soap and body soaps.....also vinegar and baking soda....is there any concoction that would clean my laundry and rinse properly without ruining my washer.....

I know this is a stupid question but I am really boredI need to wash my sheets and cant afford laundry soap until tomorrow?
The dish-soap with the baking soda should suffice. Growing up my family didn't have alot of money and we would use dawn soap to pretreat stains. It's more expensive than laundry soap so you don't want use to much, and it lathers alot more. Baking soda will help with smells and make the detergent clean better.

You should use 1/4th cup of dish soap and a half cup of baking soda. You might be able to get away with an 1/8th of a cup of dish soap since you're using the baking soda.I need to wash my sheets and cant afford laundry soap until tomorrow?
Be very careful if you have a FRONT load washing machine. I would use probably less than 1/4 cup of dish detergent. Use an extra rinse and then I would run the washer without any detergent, maybe add a bit of vinegar to cut any soap left in the machine.
Use vinegar and baking soda, and hot water. Incidentally, if you have Lysol, I've found that to be a good substitute for laundry detergent in a pinch.

    Good luck!
The baking soda will do a good job, you can also use the dish soap. It shouldn't hurt the washing machine.
you can use dish soap.just add the extra rinse cycle.your washer and sheets will be fine!
if you have any pinesol soak it in pinesol for about 15min then wash it with a little bit of shampoo and baking soda
Any dish soap 1/2cup will work, add1/4cup baking soda for freshness,It's cheap and works great
use about 1/4 cup of dish washing soap...
    dish soap but very little

How much money (U.S.) does it cost to wash and dry one load of laundry?

I was given an assignment from my boss to evaluate the cost of how much money (U.S.) it costs to wash and dry one load of laundry.

I fully understand that there are a lot of variables; the size of the load, the heat, the economics of the washer and dryer, but I would just like a rough estimite.

I would greatly apreciate if you could give me a rough estimite.

    Thanks very much!

-The internHow much money (U.S.) does it cost to wash and dry one load of laundry?
Here's how I would go about it.. you may need to do a little research into prices in your area.

    Total up the following:

    Washer:

    - Water: Gallons of water (washer capacity) x cost/gallon (look on your water bill)

    - Electric: Energy consumption per load (in KWhr)x cost per KWhr (look on your electric bill)

    - Detergent: Divide the price you paid by the number of loads the bottle can give you

    - Fabric Softener: Divide the price you paid by the number of loads the bottle can give you

    Dryer:

    - Electric: Energy consumption per load (in KWhr) x cost per KWhr (look on your electric bill)

    - Dryer Sheet: Rough cost of a dryer sheet (price paid/# sheets in a box).

If you wanted to get really fancy, you could add in the cost of depreciation of the washer and dryer (I would only do this is you worked in a field where total cost of ownership of the appliance was important or your boss owned laundromats and the washer/dryer were capital expenses... or for a finance class).

Also for extra credit, once you have your answer, compare it to the cost of a load at the nearest laundromat. Don't forget to factor in the cost of gas to get there.

You have me curious now, so I am going to see if I can figure out how much it costs me and will come back and edit my answer with a rough cost.

    EDIT:

My numbers may be off because I have the high efficiency/front load type of washer/dryer.. so my energy consumption for the washer and dryer is much less than on a standard dryer and it uses less water. These numbers could easily be 2x on a standard washer/dryer.

    Wash (one load):

    - Water: $0.00 (I pay $0.0006 per gallon, so cost was not material)

    - Electric: $0.21 (0.4 KWhr/load at $0.5227/KWhr)

    - Detergent: $0.14 (Tide bought in bulk)

    - Fabric Softener: $0.05 (Downey bought in bulk)

    Total: $0.40

    Dry (one load):

    - Electric: $0.16 (0.3 KWhr/load at $0.5227/KWhr)

    - Dryer Sheet: $0.04

    Total: $0.20

The depreciation worked out to be $0.20-$0.30 per load per appliance, but it depends on your assumptions and how much you paid.

    Hope this helps!

Laundry: color clothing, how can you tell if is safe to wash with other color?

I have 10 t-shirts in different colors, I don't know if the color will come off or not (when washing in the machine). I don't have time to hand wash them.

Is there any ways I can tell if their colors will come off or not?

Serious answer please, answer only if you know it. Thanx!Laundry: color clothing, how can you tell if is safe to wash with other color?
Assuming these are brand new never washed t-shirts here is what I would do. First sort them into two piles Dark and Light. The Dark pile woud be all blacks, reds, dark greens, dark blues and dark browns. The Light pile would be all whites, yellows, light blues, light greens, and tans. Then I would wash the loads seperately, both in cold water. Then I would cross my fingers and hope for the best.Laundry: color clothing, how can you tell if is safe to wash with other color?
As long as their not red or maroon, you should be okay
If your 10 t-shirts have been washed before don't worry about the dye coming off. If they were going to run they already have. Wash in cold water and if some colour comes off it might not effect the other colours. Dry in a low heat and they won't shrink I have being doing this for years.
Most laundry tags ( found in the neck of the shirt ) will tell you to wash with like colors. For example, navy and black are like colors. After a few washings, all the excess color that a shirt will release will be gone. Always, always wash your colored shirts in cold water.
If you are washing them for the first time, you can't be sure if any will run or not. Usually its the darker colors that may run, sometimes they don't tho. You could run one shirt under the faucet and squeeze it and see if any color comes out. That should give you a good idea if its safe to wash with other colors.
you will have to put some water on them to see if they will bleed if they do wash sep with salt in the water it stop them bleeding
Don't wash red clothing with clothes that are colored but have white trim.
wash in cold water and on gentle cycle
put each t-shirt into warm water in the sing. if the water gets colored then it will color other things in the machine.
T shirts are almost always color safe. However when I have something that is RED i wash it alone the first time just to make sure it is color safe.
colors and whites that it...colors are fine red black blue green...read tag some may need special care
put each shirt in the bathroom sink with warm water, if the color will bleed you can see it flow into the water. Most light colors wont bleed, some darks or very bright colors might, and dont trust any dyes from india without checking. their lovely colors often are not colorfast.

  • How do you clean a collectable stuffed animal is it safe to wash them with laundry soap?

it is a white boydds bearHow do you clean a collectable stuffed animal is it safe to wash them with laundry soap?
No, don't clean with laundry soap. Vacuum with a nylon over the nozzle of the vacuum cleaner. There is a special product to clean stuffed animals you can buy. You can use an oxy type powder but only use the bubbles, rub on with a white terry cloth and rub off with a dry white terry cloth. Use your hairdryer to dry it quickly or it picks up more dirt. The problem with white is the dirt smears and you have a worse mess. You can put corn starch in a bag with the bear and shake it, then vacuum off the cornstarch. You can use a drycleaning product in the dryer. Make sure you air it out. Search google for the product made to clean stuffed animals or try the cornstarch. It may just need a good vacuuming and spot clean any stains. How do you clean a collectable stuffed animal is it safe to wash them with laundry soap?
Use shampoo -- the nonirritating ';baby shampoo'; if you have any -- and wash it with a washcloth -- don't dunk the whole animal in water.
If you need to wash it completely, don't use laundry soap--dishwashing soap is much gentler. Wash it in the sink, and let it dry thoroughly.
I would just spot clean it. Don't place it in the washer. Use something safe such as Woolite
Use the Build-a-Bear fur cleaner...follow the instructions.

What can I use to wash clothes if I do not have any laundry soap or cleaning supplies ?

Could I use baking soda or some other natural substitute? What can I use to wash clothes if I do not have any laundry soap or cleaning supplies ?
Baking soda is a good laundry additive that boosts the laundry soap cleaning power so you can use LESS soap/detergent...I don't know if it has any cleaning power when used on it's own...

If you have stained clothing you could use a spot of shampoo or dish soap.. Other than that you are really out of options...

Good luckWhat can I use to wash clothes if I do not have any laundry soap or cleaning supplies ?
You can use Dish Soap or Shampoo. I have used them both before when i have ran out of laundry soap and didnt want to run to the store. You can add a cap full of Pinesol to them as well to get the stale smell out of them and it does really for for stains.

But you have said you do not have any laundry soap or cleaning supplies so i am not sure if you may have these things. Other then those i do not know of anything else.

I like using Gain (liquid) when I have to washing something in the sink fast..And the smell is great!!
dulux washed thwe stains off ure clotehs, makes ure coloutr go black to wh9ite
You can use any laundry soap, just dont put too much soap in the water. Itll take forever getting them rinsed out. I would use ANY liquid laundry soap on the shelf. You can also get a small bottle of it so you arnt carry a big heavy bottle.
We love the All Small and Mighty. It's concentrated, so you won't have to lug a huge bottle along. One little bottle washes like 32 full loads, so it should work for your entire trip. The Fresh Rain smells great. Have a good trip!
Any kind you want, why don't you stop at a laundry mat along the way, would be a lot easier.
i dont know but i like gain thats what id use.have a good trip
If your gonna wash in the sink then I would use liquid and use it lightly because you cannot wrinse it out like a washing machine. You say no time to ';hang around'; well the drying of some things may take a while. (jeans and sweatshirts) unless you only wash light clothing. Have Fun!!!
    Wisk works well
Personally I would use LOC Multipurpose Cleaner concentrate. I do my handwashing in it and it's very good. It takes care of your fabric, is biodegradable, and so gentle on your hands. It's also ideal because you only need small quantities of LOC in order to do a load of washing. I usually take a small bottle of 75 mL with me and that should do me two weeks.

Because basically it's a multipurpose cleaner, you will find LOC to come in handy in other situations as well.

Another reason why it's ideal is because LOC Multipurpose Cleaner has anti-stain properties--if I spill something on my white shirt, all I do is dab some concentrate on it, and on my next load of laundry or handwashing I wash it as per normal. Once I noticed blood stains on my white bedsheets that must've been there for three weeks already so I dabbed some LOC concentrate on it and put it in the washing machine--the stains were gone.

Should I wash my infants laundry in a separate load than mine ?

My baby is almost 7 weeks oldShould I wash my infants laundry in a separate load than mine ?
I should think its a good idea. Normal laundry detergent may be too harsh for your baby's delicate skin. Moreover, we are exposed to a wide range of bacteria that baby may not have immunity to. Get an anti-bacterial baby laundry detergent specific for your baby.Should I wash my infants laundry in a separate load than mine ?
I don't think it is really a necessity. I don't think there is really anything in your laundry that could harm the baby. I always liked doing my children's clothes separately just for the convienence of having them all done at once.

I did use the milder baby detergents for a while though just to avoid the baby having a skin reaction to the harsher detergents.
Old folk tales says that we should wash infants clothes separate with adult clothes due to germs BUT seriously i don't see the need to do so as detergent is strong enough to do the cleaning. Unless your infant has sensitive skin which our adult detergent is too strong for their skin so you will need to wash it with baby detergent.
There's probably no need to, unless you know for sure your baby has sensitive skin and needs his/her clothes washed with special detergent (in reality, few babies need their clothes handled so carefully). You can wash everything together, and if you're concerned, just use a dye-free, fragrance-free detergent. We use Purex's version...it's cheap and gets the job done just fine.

I admit that a lot of the time I do wash my daughter's clothes separately from everyone else's....but it is for organizational purposes only. It is easier to sort through her things when they aren't mixed with our clothes. Good luck!
For the most part, I do my daughter's (she's two weeks) laundry separately with a mild detergent. Sometimes I will put a couple of her clothes in with mine if there's not a lot to wash or I just had to change her. My sister always washed my nephew's clothes with hers and it didn't make a difference. I guess it just depends on your baby's skin.
It works if you use the same detergent for your family as you do for your baby. I did this because I didn't like the idea of wasting water, electricity, and detergent. I use Purex Free %26amp; Clear for the whole family and Purex's hypoallergenic liquid fabric softener on everything that isn't fire retardant.
My son is 4 weeks old and ever since he was born Ive washed his stuff separtly then ours. I was always afraid our clothes would bleed and ruin his little stuff. Cuase my sis always washed my neices clothes with hers and my neices pink stuff turned a dull pinkish blue color. Not cute.
I wash mine separately with the Target brand baby soap, that way it won't irritate her skin, and then all her clothes are together and I don't lose itty bitty socks in my clothes. it works.
    Dear M,

You have gotten some good advice about using a special type of laundry detergent. Another thought is to wash 1 -2 items of your baby's with yours and see if she/he has any sensitivity to them when they wear them.

If the baby does not have a reaction to adult detergents wash the clothes together. If he is sensitive to the detergent then get a baby detergent.
i used to wash my daughter's clothes separately because i was using different detergent. i didn't want to irritate her delicate skin.
I have always washed my kids clothes together with mine. They sell that baby detergent and I think it's just a money maker cuz I've never had a problem with regular cheap detergent
We wash our baby's clothes separately, but we don't use a different detergent than ours.
    I do.

Does anybody re-use a towel after a shower?. My husband puts towels to wash immediately. I do so much laundry!

It seems that after you took a shower, you are clean and when you dry off, your towel is pretty clean too. We used to have to make do with a towel a week but it seems like all I do is wash towels and waste water and time. Is this really necessary. I don't want to be dirty but it all seems a bit much!Does anybody re-use a towel after a shower?. My husband puts towels to wash immediately. I do so much laundry!
I am with you, it isn't necessary! Not only are you doing way too much laundry and its too much work, it costs a lot of money for all that extra water and electricity, not to mention the cost of laundry detergent.

I actually use two towels, one for my face and long hair, and one for my body, and I only wash them once a week. More often is not necessary, I am only drying my clean body with them.Does anybody re-use a towel after a shower?. My husband puts towels to wash immediately. I do so much laundry!
That is silly. He does not need the towel washed every day. Every three days would be o.k. Is he obsessive compulsive?
If everyone has their own towel changing them every third day is plenty, More often is a waste of time, utilities, and laundry soap. It also wears the towels out sooner
dry his towel after he takes a shower, let it dry over the heater and foled it again so he won't see if it bothers him, i mean com on now, you are so right about using it more than just ones

you can also just air it outside when the weather permits it

    goodluck
Because yesterday's butt drier should not be today's face drier. Get smaller towels. There are a lot of gross people out there. And they all seem to be answering this question.
Everyone has their own towel that gets washed once a week along with bed linens.

He doesn't make you wash the sheets every day does he? And those are most likely dirtier than the towel...

The only towel/washrag/sponge that gets washed after one day's use is what's used in my kitchen.
yeah, my husband did this too when we first got married. i went on a towel strike. i had 4 towels that i used, reused then washed and let him use all the rest. once he wiped out all the towels from all the bathrooms he started washing his own. he maintained he didn't mind washing his own towels once a week and did so for about 2 months. then he started slacking off doing it less and less often. eventually, he broke down and now uses one towel two or three times before he throws it in the dirty clothes.
I have two teen-age granddaughters who are driving their dad (a single parent) crazy with all the laundry. They throw a towel on the floor after one use. You have dried a clean body. Use the towel at least a week.
we use ours 3 days. we hang them to dry after use.

tell him to use one end to dry his face so that each time he is using the same end.
We normally wash our towels once a week. They are the one thing in the house that should never really get dirty, they just start smelling some after a while. My wife found out this week in a hint book that if you add a little baking soda in the rinse water with towels and rags that they will smell better too. I plan on trying it next time we wash them.
What my family does is we hang back up our towels after using them. We have three towel on a rack and what we do is when you get out of the shower you use the towel on the very end and then put it on the floor for the next person to step on and so on, so you can use it twice before washing it.
I shower twice a day once in the morning when I wake up and once before I go to bed. My towel naturally dries on the towel rack. I only wash it when I do my laundry which is twice a week. There is no need to wash it after each use, unless you are not bathing properly.
By the time a person gets out of the shower; they should be clean from Head to Toe! (Butt and all)

If the person is truly clean, a towel could be used again as long as it is dried within 24 hours. If a wet towel does not dry within 24 hours, bacteria will start to grow and create mold.
I use mine for a few days. I let it hang after using it and it is dry when I need it again.
I re-use mine until they start to stink. At least a week.
I wash my towel once or twice a week I agree with you I do not think you need to wash your towel everyday unless something stains it. You are just drying off. Everyone has odd habits you are lucky that this is the type of complaint you have
Sounds like maybe he should be the one washing all those towels! Perhaps if he sees how much of a pain it is, and how OCD it is he'll be open to reusing the towels. Personally, I use mine 3 or 4 times and I'm a bit of a ';clean freak.'; =)
We use our towels a couple of times after showering,as you say your clean when you get out,so no need to have a clean towel every time, why dont you leave the towels in the laundry box and wait to see what he says when theres none left in the airing cuboard!! or show him how to use the washing machine.
It is a bit much, The towel is clean it is just wet. I'll use the same towel for a week or so, but not much longer than that.

Do laundry stain removers work if you don't wash right away?

All stain removers I've seen suggest soaking for a few minutes and then washing. When my baby has a diaper blowout and getting the item in the washer in 5 minutes isn't an option, how should i treat the stain? Will immediately spraying it with a stain remover help even if I don't actually get the item in the washer until a couple of days later? Or should i just rinse and wait to treat the stain until just before doing a load?Do laundry stain removers work if you don't wash right away?
I just bought the spray n wash stick and it says to rub on and wash within a week. It didn't say anything about soaking.Do laundry stain removers work if you don't wash right away?
I use Shout Advance, it's a lot better than regular shout. It comes in a small blue bottle and sells for under $4. I can not say enough great things about this product. I spray the clothes when I can get to it and wash them whenever I get to that. You don't have to soak the clothes either. This product even works on old stubborn stays that have already been washed and dried several times.

My mom, who has a home daycare reccommended it to me. I'm a mother of 3 ages 3 and under.

Laundry dramas - any deodorant contact turning red in the wash (same deodorant and laundry liquid for years)?

Hi - I need some help. It is a total mystery...

I have been using the same deodorant (roll on, not anti-perspirant) and laundry liquid for years, yet three weeks ago I did my washing as normal and all my shirts came out with bright red stains wherever they had come into contact with deodorant (concentrated, of course, to the underarm area).

I have soaked in salt water, nappy soaker, laundry soaker. I have pre-wash stain removed with sprays, sticks and creams, and I have bleached (both industrial strength and natural). All that works is hard laundry soap and good old elbow grease. Then I get to do it all again next wash!!

Firstly - can anyone shed some light on this matter? I have now changed deodorant and laundry liquid and it's still happening.

Secondly - can anyone offer any better suggestion to cleaning the stains - the vigorous hand washing required is ripping the fabric.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.Laundry dramas - any deodorant contact turning red in the wash (same deodorant and laundry liquid for years)?
I had a similiar problem myself. In my case, the stains were a result of the fact that the well that fed water to my house was about to dry up; the actual staining was rust, which was apparently attracted to either the anti-perspirant, or the actual perspiration itself.

If you have well water, and if you've tried changing both deodorant and laundry detergent, that may be the problem. Even if you don't have well water, you may have rust in your pipes if you own an older home.

If you really want to try a good test, use the same deodorant and laundry detergent, but take your clothes to a laundry facility one time. If the stains don't occur when you wash the clothes outside of your house, the problem is with your water quality, your pipes, or your well (if applicable.)

Good luck tracking down the problem!Laundry dramas - any deodorant contact turning red in the wash (same deodorant and laundry liquid for years)?
I solved this problem by using deodorants that do not have Aluminum Zirconium Tetrachlorohydrex listed as an ingredient.

Adidas makes one without this stuff. I haven't had any weird color changing going on with my clothes since this change. Report Abuse

Id say your body chemistry has changed. Its not the water rust or anything like that because the clothes would be rusty or cloudy in a lot of places other than arm pits only.

I have a similar problem. It seems that coating on my white shirts is a ';greasy'; polymerized compound of some sort. My shirts can go about 3 washings before i need to clean them out again. I spot clean the underarms using a non clorine bleach purchased here at Krogers its in the powder form and no smell. Once the underarm area is wet well with that bleach solution i apply a wet rag and a hot iron to it for a few seconds. That completely removes it when it passes thru the washer.

How many loads of laundry do you wash a week? i probably wash/dry 7?

I have to do 3 to 4 loads every weekday, and a few loads on the weekend. I have 4 kiddos, a hubby, and a dog, so laundry is a full time job at my house. How many loads of laundry do you wash a week? i probably wash/dry 7?
The laundry is not the most efficient system in my house...I'd say maybe 2-3 times a week.
normally 2-4 a week unless my daughter comes home from college then look out.
    I would say 4 loads.
2 or 3 one white one pants one colors if not enough pants or colors i wash pants and colors together.

but then agian i have two kids under two and a husband that wears dress shirts and suits every day, plus what ever he changes into when he comes home from work to work around the house.
8 or more, there are 5 people in my family

I am part of a family of five, so probably 10 times a week AT MOST. On average 5-8 times.
    3
5 or 6-i dunno, my mum and dad do the washing, cleaning etc.
I swear it is NEVER ending ...

but on average 4-7 loads more if I just happen to be to busy for it :)

Why does my head itch when i touch my dirty clothes to do laundry? It then stops affter I wash my hands?

Is this normal? Do other people get this. How often does this happen to other people (is it a common occurrence). Is there any way i can stop it?Why does my head itch when i touch my dirty clothes to do laundry? It then stops affter I wash my hands?
It could mean that you have a subconcious phobia of dirt. You could try carrying around a bottle of purell...?Why does my head itch when i touch my dirty clothes to do laundry? It then stops affter I wash my hands?
Maybe it is just a sensitivity to the pollens and dust stirred up when the laundry is moved around. ? Not to worry. It could be something worse. :)

Laundry??How often do you wash your clothes?Do you wear something,More than once before you wash?

Generally My phrase is wore once gets washed!!Laundry??How often do you wash your clothes?Do you wear something,More than once before you wash?
I confess I do wear some items if they are still clean, due to a chilly day, or that I was a bit lazy, and didn't remember to change the shirt!

I wear clothing solely to be invisible to most in society. I've found that gray makes people relax, and most cops will let you go if you look poorer and dumber than them.

    HONEST ANSWERS:

    1. I've answered this question 4 times in the last month, and so, would appreciate it if you'd please read all answers and questions on this site before posting one.

    2. This will be my final answer concerning laundry. I hope you'll understand.

    3. I launder my clothing once each month and it's usually on the 1st or 2nd of the month.

    4. I do this because I'm a driver, and so, have no time to live a normal life.

    5. It takes 97 minutes from the time I leave the truck, until the basket is back into its position in the truck.

    6. I get 4 or 5 tasks completed while the wash/dry is being done, and so, feel extremely accomplished on wash day.

    7. I use the cheapest soap possible, and plenty of it.

    8. I fold undies in half then quarter, then stack.

    9. I half-roll sox into each other, and if there ends up a mismatch, I just act colorblind.

    10. I wear only Levi's and T-shirts. I have 20 GRAYS and 10 BLACKS.

    11. In the warmer months I wear swim trunks and short pants.

    12. I believe I spend less actual time doing my wash than any human on earth. I am an efficiency expert, and as my time is quite precious, I don't waste it on non-essential activities.

    13. BAD LUCK: I repeat...this is the last time I'll answer this question. Again, I hope you'll understand.

PS - Laundry is a cool thing. If you study how various nations do it, you'll find that it is one of the common tasks, yet done in a very wide variety of methods.

Rich people who let others do it are robbing themselves of the gentle time it takes to appreciate being truly human. Poor people who have nothing but a filthy river or pond, are not using their head. They should have chosen parents better, and, failing this, they should immigrate to where there is welfare, decent prisons and institutionally-provided clothing.

This is all I care to post presently. I trust you'll read all answers and questions before posting one that may have been many times repeated.

    Thank you.

One last thing...I fold my T-shirts after a swift whip, to rid them of major wrinkles, then in half...then in quarter, after placing the sleeves inside.

I (of course) press each stack, so they are compressed.

My basket is oval shape, and was purchased at Wal-Mart for $9.96. It's about 13 months old now, and in very good condition.

I leave soap at the laundromat if there is less than the amount I need for the next month's 3 loads.

I watch for sales, and grab several large el cheapos when they are so cheap it makes you feel guilty.

Again, I thank you for your interest!

.Laundry??How often do you wash your clothes?Do you wear something,More than once before you wash?
I wash twice a week. But I have too especially since I get a fresh towel and face cloth every day. But clothing that needs tom be dry cleaned are worn at least twice before sending it back to get cleaned. I hang these clothes inside out before wearing them the 2nd time.

jeans are different - u wear those until you get a stain on them...LOL
I do my laundry once a week. With the exception of my nightshirt, I only wear things once before they get tossed into the hamper.
It depends. If I just wore it for a short period of time and it doesn't have any stains or smells, I would wear it again once before washing it.
I wash once a week, I wear jeans at least twice before washing.
I wear my Jeans more then once if nothing happened. But the rest of my cloths are one time then wash.

    dfc
i wear some of my clothes 2 or 3 times before washing them it saves money by a lot and just wash the nice things like dresses nice pants things like that you should keep fresh!
I do my family's laundry every Saturday.. and yes, after it has been worn once...to the wash it goes! Sometimes, for the charge of a hug and kiss, I'll wash something mid-week if they want to wear a certain shirt or pair of jeans that they've already worn earlier in the week.
I do 2 small loads of wash everyday. I wash everything once I have worn it.
I'll wear jeans more than once but everything else gets washed.

Maids will do whatever cleaning you want. You can also take your laundry to a laundromat and they will wash, dry, and fold for you.
Sure, at the local laundromat. It costs about .75 a pound.
    YES...they are called wives!

How much Cascade should I use per wash load to help my laundry detergant do its job?

Don't put Cascade in the laundry.

My mother in law tried it once and it gave chemical burns to everyone that wore the clothes until we figured out what caused it.

Cascade is a very strong dish washing detergent made for dishwashers only. It is very caustic if you get it on you wet.How much Cascade should I use per wash load to help my laundry detergant do its job?
cascade is for dishes,I suggest Spray and Wash, pour about an oz. in with your detergent. How much Cascade should I use per wash load to help my laundry detergant do its job?
Cascade is for dishes. It contains bleach and will ruin you clothes. Try oxyclean
Spray and Wash is too expensive, and OxyClean will eat your clothes eventually. Try using 20 Mule Team Borax, and cut back on the amount of laundry soap you use. More is NOT better.

I need something clean and won't be shopping until tomorrow. Is there anything else I can use that I'll find around my house? Are there any household items (besides laundry detergent) you can use to wash your clothes?
Soap that doesn't foam up. Baking soda would prob do nicely too.Are there any household items (besides laundry detergent) you can use to wash your clothes?
Washing up liquid can be good for removing stains or as an alternative to detergent for the odd item if you run out of washing powder, just make sure you are not allergic and don't use too much.

You can use a mild bleach solution on white items that are heavily stained, use a small amount of bleach disolved in a large amount of water and patch test first.

yes you can either use laundry soap - grate it and mix up with some hot water to dissolve and add to the machine

Dishwashing detergent or hair shampoo is also fine - anything that cleans should be ok as long as it is not caustic or dangerous

Add some white vinegar to rinse and deodorise your clothes and to remove any soap/detergent left in rinse
I use Suave shampoo all the time.Use about 1 tablespoon.Too much laundry soap actually helps break down the fabric of most clothes.I do use fabric softner but only 1/2 of whats recomended. My clothes are clean, smell fresh and all look new.J
yes there is u can wash ur clothes with soap or dish detergent or shampoo anything that is cleanable
dr. bronners! vinegar, or baking soda. even vodka.
ive done this before and i used shampoo
i've used dishsoap (a little bit). beware do not use dishsoap with bleach.

  • What happens when I wear something new when the laundry instructions say I should wash it first before wearing

The dyes in the clothes could end up on you. Manufactures use fabric finishers to keep the fabrics from getting to wrinkled and mildewed in shipping. You don't know what critters have been in the boxes while sitting in the warehouse while gathering dust. And the dyes and finishers can irritate the skin unless washed to remove the irritants. What happens when I wear something new when the laundry instructions say I should wash it first before wearing
I had a friend who worked in a garment facory, I went to see her one time there and some of the people there had infected hands or colds coughing , so not only is it the dyes but it is also for your protection as well as when they are hanging in the stores they are being touched by people with colds ect. What happens when I wear something new when the laundry instructions say I should wash it first before wearing
Some of the dyes used in the manufacturing process may come off onto your body or other clothing. Better to wash it first.
The colors can rub off on your skin or other clothing. For example if you did not wash you red shorts before wearing them, your underwear might become pink or red. It would be permantly stained from the transfer of the clothing dyes. Therefore it is best to wash new clothing items with like colors or separetely before wear to prevent ruining your other clothing.
Lol nothing, they just say that cause Im sure other people have touched with their germs and tried it on there greasy bodies...they just want it to be clean for you!
Nothing, usually. It does have to do with the dye thing and also because sometimes the chemicals that they use on the fabric can irritate the skin.
Formaldehyde is in the dyes and fabrics. It took me 8 months to get rid of a spot on my leg that my doctor said was from new clothes, I had a scratch first and didn't wash my new clothes...
It means you just placed some curse on your family.

It's almost as heinous a crime as removing the Do Not Remove tag off a mattress!

    WOW!
you mean you dont smell that stinking new smell?i wash my underwear before wearing.there are many colored items that do need to be washed because they could fade and the color bleed onto your skin.new jeans like levis will unlss they are the type that the material has been washed several times to get that worn look.anyway there are lots of things that might be in new clothes and i wouldnt wear them until they have been washed at least one time.when we purchase clothes from another country,we need to examine the material and check all the pockets. you never know what may be in them. just to be safe since we have had terrorist activity.
usually it just means there may be excess dye in the fabric. especially with dark clothing like jeans, you end up with the colour on you. it washes off. if you sit on light coloured furniture, eg seats, the colour can be transferred to that.

Is it safe to wash khaki pants in the same laundry load as a black shirt?

Just not sure about this. Since I'm not sure of khakis fall in the ';whites'; or ';colours'; department. Is it safe to wash khaki pants in the same laundry load as a black shirt?
I would say noIs it safe to wash khaki pants in the same laundry load as a black shirt?
It depends if you have washed the black shirt before and what type of material it is. Sometimes black might run, other times it might just leave lots of fuzz or something on your pants.

If I have washed clothes before I will put them together if not I usually seperate them the first time.

It also depends if the khaki pants are light or dark....light colored khaki's I do with white, if it is a dark khaki it would be color.

As the previous answerer said, cold water is your best bet in this case...
i wash all my clothes together without separating. it won't hurt your pants.
better mix your khakis with the colored load. dont mix it with black. if the color black bleeds, your khaki will be destroyed!
I am very careful with black clothes. But, generally speaking a cold load is usually safe. Always use a cold setting if you are concerned with bleeding of colors.

Black and red are the only colors that ever give me trouble.

I would wash a black shirt with a pair of khakis as long as the khakis are not too light (as in almost white tan instead of true khaki).

How many tops do you wash in one load of laundry?

How many article of each clothing do you wash in one load of laundry ?

typical? How many tops do you wash in one load of laundry?
well , i do denim in one load , then cotton ( and everything else) in another load . so my loads is usually a lot of underwear , all the shirts i have worn ( usually 8 or so shirts in a week - not including what i wore to church on sunday ) all my pjs , socks and etc .

so if i wait a extra week to do my laundry - maybe 16 shirts ?

Is it more efficient to wash full loads of laundry or smaller loads?

I used to do full loads all the time, but found that the clothes were not coming out completely clean. There was some soap and residue build up that was making the clothes kind of dingy. So now I put less clothes in. This means there is more water for less clothes, so they are rinsing cleaner. Either that or I would have to wash big loads twice till the rinse water came out clear.

To demonstrate this: take a basin and two shirts. Fill the basin up just to cover the two shirts. Wash them in this basin, and then rinse them once. Did you get all the soap out? and did the water feel clear? or were the clothes still kind of sitting in bilge water? Then take the same two shirts and wash them in the sink full of water. More water to slosh the shirts around in, and more rinse water.

I vote for smaller loads so there is more water for the clothes to slosh around in.Is it more efficient to wash full loads of laundry or smaller loads?
I found that larger loads work better. the electricity used is same amount for large loads as smaller ones so defeat the bill and go large. It will save you money in the long run doing less washes than doing small loads. two small loads cost twice the amount as one large load and don't forget about drying. Now when drying less is better. I do a large load and put half in the dryer for less time to dry. after you figure out how long it takes to dry you then can adjust. dryers do use more energy but if too many clothes go into it it will take a longer time to get them dry. Use judgement and it will save time and dollars.I only do one small load its usually whites, undergarments ect.Is it more efficient to wash full loads of laundry or smaller loads?
it depends on the type of washer you use. did you ever see those front loading machines in laundromats? they are MEANT to wash large loads of wash--so large that you really stuff them in there! but with a top loader, it is far more efficient to get the clothes clean the first time, and especially before you dry them, since if dirt is dried into the cloth, it will never come out.

if you do use a top loader (less efficient than front loaders, though, that is why you are seeing front loaders in appliance stores for consumers now) separate the clothes properly, let some water run into the machine, add liquid detergent along with other favorite laundry helpers (like bleech, bluing), then always put the larger, heavier items at the bottom followed by lighter wear. don't fill the top loader with too many clothes: they just will not come clean. it's also important to know which materials take what type of water, and how high you can put the heat up to on the dryer when you go to dry them.

it is also real easy to watch the clothing dry, pulling out small things like socks, underwear, shorts, lightweight shirts, etc., and folding and hanging them immediately while the heavier, larger items toss around in the dryer.
its more efficient to wash full loads in cold water, however you can't overfill the washing machine.

if you are using powdered soap, make sure to put the soap in 1st and let some water run. this will reconstitute the soap and you wont see a buildup on your clothes.

i have been using ';tide coldwater'; detergent. its really great! it smells really good too. i think that it really gets my clothes clean.

so try to save up your clothes until the end of the week and do a mostly full load. its too much of a waste of water and energy to run small loads all the time.
    full loads.
it doesn't take much more water to do a large load than a small one,and takes the same amount of electricity for both.it is definitely more economic to do full loads

What makes laundry items discolor after the first wash?

Just bought brand new towels - not cheap ones - washed them as directed and they came out looking like some bleach got in there or something - WHY?!What makes laundry items discolor after the first wash?
you may have had spilled bleach...do you mean spotted?

If color loss, the over dye on the unwashed towel came out in the first wash. TAke them backWhat makes laundry items discolor after the first wash?
Probably because some bleach got in there, perhaps left in the machine from earlier. I presume the towels were colored and that this happened at a laundramat. Sometimes the manufacturer can be at fault and there should be a phone # on the package.
at least they are not datcolor
    Maybe you:

    1. washed them at too high temperature

    2. used the detergent for white clothes

    3. maybe they have a low quality color - I have the same problem with my new skirt and it was also not a cheap one

Tip: You can color them by clothes colors which are very cheap. If it doesn't color them enough the first time, try more times with more color. It works very well.

  • Do you wash your underwear with your other laundry?

depends on quality -i was my bras by hand in the shower. lingerie goes in the gentle cycle, everyday panties in the washer -never in the dryer.Do you wash your underwear with your other laundry?
No! Underwear has bacteria and fecal matter in it. The washing machine doesn't get it all out. It spreads some of it around onto other clothes. I don't want that on my or my family's clothes. I wash underwear with towels and I put a small amount of bleach in and wash them in hot water.

Colors and blacks can be washed in hot water and dried on high.Do you wash your underwear with your other laundry?
No. I usually wash it separately and when I take my bath. In that case, I get to save a lot -- water, time, money (no need for me to buy a lot of undies). :)

I also believe undies are pretty sensitive... So, I make an extra effort to wash it ';specially';.
I wash whites with whites, and colored with coloreds.

    I don't like pink socks.
Yes, you can wash underwear with other laundry. Just make sure you put like colors together.
life is too short, wash your underwear with the appropriate load. Unless they are really grotty yewwwwwwwwww wash them by hand
i wash my shorts with my socks but undershirts separately.
Yes - whites with whites... you get the point.
    Yes. Why not?
    yes.

Would you wash your clothes in a hotel laundry mat?

Would you use the hotel laundry mat to keep from having to pack 2 weeks worth of clothes for 4 people. Or do you think those machines are gross? I wouldn't think they would be any worse than a regular laundry mat. Plus my baby spits up all the time so I change her clothes like 3 times a day.Would you wash your clothes in a hotel laundry mat?
I use to work in a hotel, and take it from me, don't do your laundry there, you won't believe the things that room attendants find there. For example: food, garbage, use condoms. Seriously don't use them. Take the trip to a clean laundry mat or a dry cleaner, anything is better than hotel laundry mats.Would you wash your clothes in a hotel laundry mat?
sounds like you dont have a choice maybe try to wipe the outside out with some cleaner or use one of those wipes..
I'm sure they're just as clean as regular laundry mats. It's a washer, so how dirty could it be? I think it'd be worth it to pack light!
that or you all will smell bad. lol
    I wouldn't, especially considering that u have a baby.

You never know what kinds of germs are in those machines.

By the way, keep ur family off of the hotel bedspreads, they are super germy.
I've used them in the past and will again in the future. My rule is if it look clean, then I will use it.
Depends on the hotel doesn't it? If you are washing stuff that can take hot water and hot drying and good detergent, it will be safe.

Buy a box of those anti-bacterial wipes for extra care (but I wouldn't)
    Yes
I think hotel laundromat would be better than any laundromat dumps I been to. I would bet their washers and dryers work.
yes. clean clothes vs dirty clothes.
I've used them and they do a fine job. (-: I've never caught any bad diseases, at any rate. Maybe the heat of the dryer kills any bad things. Just check the drum before you wash anything.

Try not to think about the negatives, and think about the positives -- like clean clothes and not having to lug around 200 pounds of luggage!

However, if you are *really* worried and want to take the time and money, run an empty load with a cup of bleach. But, I think it's a waste of time.

Whats the difference between the hand-wash and delicate cycle in a laundry machine?

Confuses me. What types of clothing should be washed in the hand-wash cycle and which types in the delicate cycle?

Thanks in advance for the answers.Whats the difference between the hand-wash and delicate cycle in a laundry machine?
The hand wash cycle moves at the washer's slowest speeds and stops agitating periodically during the wash cycle. The delicate cycle moves at the washer's slowest speed during wash and rinse cycles, but doesn't stop agitating during the wash cycle. The tags in the clothing should tell you what cycle to use. Any material that's very delicate or has lace, etc., on it should probably be hand wash cycle. I wash clothing with decorative items and bras, etc., on delicate.

Hope this helps. Good luck!Whats the difference between the hand-wash and delicate cycle in a laundry machine?
Read the tag in the clothes. Who knows what the difference is but the clothes makers know the right setting.

My son has exzema and I only use aveeno bath and aquaphor as lotion and wash in dreft laundry detergent?

he is breaking out no more then before and I haven't changed anything in his diet or otherwise. The doctor gave me 2.5% Hydrocortozone and that doesn't seem to work either. My poor baby scratches and now has little scratch marks around the bumps, what can I do to help him stop itching???My son has exzema and I only use aveeno bath and aquaphor as lotion and wash in dreft laundry detergent?
hey. my 8 month old daughter also has Exzema as well and I cannot wash her clothes in Dreft. Its actually too strong for her. Her peditrician had me to change it to Free %26amp; Clear laundry detergents (with no dyes or scents), which can be found in Gain %26amp; All laundry detergents. Im sure other brands make it but those are the only 2 I have used. I also had to change the diapers I was using because some diaper do have chemicals that are too strong for extremely sensitive babies. I use Huggies Pure %26amp; Natural now. With those changes, my daughter rarely breaks out as much as she did before. I really hope this helps and try changing the laundry detergent for him and see how that does first if you want. Poor baby!

    Good Luck,

JessicaMy son has exzema and I only use aveeno bath and aquaphor as lotion and wash in dreft laundry detergent?
Hey im 16 and i've had bad eczema for as long as i can remember. My mum says that I've had it since i was born and she tried so hard to stop me itching as a baby. I can understand exactly how your son feels, with severe eczema it drives you really crazy with the intense itching.

My advice to you would be to use Oilatum as my mum swears by it and says it helped me greatly as a child and can be used on babies as well as adults. I know this may sound abit crazy but when i still get eczema i find that softly tapping my skin rather den itching it can sometimes deal with the itch. You could maybe try that with your son but don't do it too much as it can also become irritating.

Also for daily use for my eczema i use DoubleBase which is a thick gel like substance that really helps and relives my itch. Best of luck to you and your baby! x
The oatmeal baths work well. Make sure that when you use the aquaphor that you slather it on while he is still wet to seal in the moisture. Make sure his baths are no longer than 5-10min is warm but not hot water. I use the purex free %26amp; clear detergent bc even the baby detergents have scent added to them which is irritating for eczema. My son used to scratch himself silly while sleeping bc of itching so bad. While he was really little I put baby socks on his hands bc they stay on better than the little mittens. I quit using them once he had enough hand control to take them off. My sons eczema also seemed to be triggered by allergies - at least that's when it gets worse. After he was 6mo old I started giving him a 1/2 tsp of zyrtec(after checking w our pedi) whenever allergies were getting bad and it helped tremendously. It does get better with age and some babies completely outgrow it by 2 years old. My 20month old doesn't seem to be outgrowing it, but it is much more manageable and only kicks up in a couple spots. Apply the cortizone cream a couple of times a day and it will help the more under control it gets - you can also use the 1% from th drugstore and it will be just as effective as the 2.5% but won't thin the skin as much.

I have read about research of giving them a ';bleach bath'; once a week, but I have been waaaaay to scared to try anything like that. If you are braver than I am you could look into it and talk to your pedi about it.

Good luck and it will get better!!
My goddaughter's dermatologist told me to stop all of the other treatments and use only Dove soap. You might want to take your baby to a dermatologist because there are actually a couple of different ';types'; (for lack of a better word) of excema. My goddaughter's skin doesn't hold onto the moisture in water so she has a different regiment than other kids with the other type of excema. I hope that helps.
two of my children have this too. use vasiline. it works wonders. with my son his is mild so i use baby lotion which works great but my daughter has is really bad. she gets it behind her knees, her neck, arms every where. she was even getting it behind her ears. all the cracks of her body. i used everything even a staroid cream that my doctor gave me which that did work but is not good to use to much. vasiline seems to be the only thing that works. it is thick so it keeps the body covered so it wont dry out any more.
I have really sensitive skin and naturally my son does too. I use Purex Free %26amp; Clear laundry detergent, Dove Sensitive Skin bar soap, and Palmolive Pure %26amp; Clear dish soap with the pediatrician's recommendation. My son had one break out from Johnson's baby wash and once I switched, he hasn't had one since.

    Good luck! Hope this helps!
Im glad im not the only one with children suffering from eczema! OK the lil bumps that are forming on the top of the eczema are called maloskims (sp) The only things that worked for the actual eczema was ellidel cream which is very expensive!! Also we did a rare treatment where we have to go to the childrens hospital and they put a type of medication made from a beetle on the bumps... it literally ate them away. After the stuff was on there it just peeled everything away. It was amazing!! I cried because I knew it was a new beginning for my little one! Also be aware that asthma and eczema run hand in hand. Usually a child with one will have the other!!
My son has this as well their isn't much else you can do. His doctor gave me the same. My son's skin has been fine now since the warm summer months but I know fall and winter are coming so I will be back to this again.
have you used the aveno oatmeal baths??? i use those with my kids and it really helps

Can You wash teddy bears in a laundry mat?

They may get scared buy yes you can. If they are falling apart you may want to get a new one because it may not hold up in the wash. and dont forget to wash behind the ears! Can You wash teddy bears in a laundry mat?
Yes, if they are in good shape. I would suggest using a mesh bag, if you have one big enough. I used to use pillow cases. Can You wash teddy bears in a laundry mat?
Do you mean Laundromat? Yes, of course you can clean teddy bears there... as long as the teddy can stand the process.
Sure can, just put them inside a panty hose leg %26amp; wash in cold water. Air dry for several days.
Yes you can wash them , but be very careful , check the labels first , as some teddy麓s can only be washed by using a sponge and cold water. You can pop them into a pillow slip , so if they do fall apart at least you have all the stuffing in the one place and not blocking up the machine , as I found out once before
You put them into a pillowcase and pin the end of the case shut with a safety pin. Then you wash and dry them and they come out nice and clean and fluffy

  • Can i add body wash to my laundry soap??

i want my clothes to smell like my body wash.. can i add some to the wash???Can i add body wash to my laundry soap??
Who makes your body wash?? I was thinking that some of the brands also have body sprays... and you could use that.....

While I honestly don't think body wash is going to hurt your clothes (it's very gentle... it's ok for your skin, right?) I doubt that much of the smell would be left after laundering, and it would be expensive....

See about the body spray... then you can smell that way all day long! Can i add body wash to my laundry soap??
    I wouldn't do it.
absolutely not. they're made differently and you'll end up with way more suds than the washer can handle. does your body wash have a perfume that you can buy? if so you can scent linen paper with it and put that into your drawers.
do not put dishwashing soap in the wash!!! that last guy was playing a joke, you would have suds out the wazzoo!
No b/c body wash is meant for your body and skin washing it in your clothes could destroy them or change their colors. If you want to try it use some old socks or a piece of clothing that is way too small or something you cheap that can be easily replaced.
they're two different soaps which might cause a chemical reaction that might damage some of your clothes If there's a perfume or maybe add some lavendar or if its a plant some of that to the laundry instead
i can't see any problem with it.
Try a half cup of lemon-scented dishwashing soap.
    No.

Find a fabric softener that is closest to the desired scent.

Or . add body wash onto a sponge %26amp; let it dry. Hang sponge in closet not NOT touching clothing items.

How much does it cost to wash and dry clothes at the laundry matt?

Okay I really need help! My washer is broken and I have a ton of clothes to wash and it would seriously hurt my hands to wash them all by hand.

How much does it cost to wash a load?

How much does it cost to dry a load?

Please help!! Thanks! How much does it cost to wash and dry clothes at the laundry matt?
Washers usually take about two dollars and dryers usually take about a dollar but often times you'll need to add more quarters because the initial dollar does not give much drying time, but be sure to add quarters before the dryer goes off so you don't have to add a whole extra dollar. Also, empty the lint filter to maximize drying time.

If you haven't been to a laundrymat before, take my advice and NEVER leave your clothes unattended, some people go in there just to seal other people's clothes or they will take your soap and laundry basket...bastards lol.

Good luck! How much does it cost to wash and dry clothes at the laundry matt?
reg sized washers are $1.00 dryers 25cents

they also have giant washers that go for different prices depends on how many loads it handles
Where I live it's around $1 per wash and $1 per dry. Bring quarters in case they don't have a change machine.
    At the laundromat here (cheyenne,wyoming) it's a 2.00 wash and 1.00 dry.

Most laundromat dryers you can extend the drying time for heavier laundry by adding more quarters.

The double load washers are great if you have a lot of laundry or have heavy blankets and such but they cost a bit more.

My daughter left her laundry in the wash for3 days. how do get rid of the mildew smell?

Wash again with hot water, detergent and a disinfectant to kill the mildew fungus and the smell. Then dry on hot. This should help kill the fungus, and prevent it from continuing to grow and spread to other things and from irritating skin and respiratory passages, as well as getting completely rid of the smell. If it is possible to use a bit of chlorine bleach on these clothes, this can take care of it. If not, then another disinfectant that kills molds and fungi would be a possible choice. My daughter left her laundry in the wash for3 days. how do get rid of the mildew smell?
Just wash them again. My daughter left her laundry in the wash for3 days. how do get rid of the mildew smell?
wash the clothes again and add a cup of white vinegar in the rinse cycle. will help with the smell, plus make the clothes really soft.
    i would wash them again
Wash them again and dry it in sun.
You should try washing them again. I would recommend using a detergent with lemon scent or even some lemon luice into the washer witht he clothes. You may have to wash the clothes again to get the lemon out, but the mildew smell will be gone. Look for mold growing on the clothes before trying anything becuase the clothes may already be ruined. The mold will probably be a white powdery material.
wash them again with a cup of white vinegar in the wash.and a cup in the rinse draw aswell. Then dry outside for clothes that smell like a breath of fresh air.
Re wash and Add Oxyclean to the Soap Powder.
    wash them again
I would wash them again several times if needed to get the smell out. Also use a dryer sheet when drying that ought to get the smell out of the clothes.

You may have the mildew smell in the washer as well though.

I would run the washer several times with no clothes, on hot water with lots of bleach.

That should get the smell out of the washer and prevent the smell getting into any future loads that you run.
Wash it again with a couple of drops of Lavender oil.
empty a bottle full of room freshner in her pants(warning:not to try out when the pant is in use)
i wash again and use liquid fabric softener use lil extra than usual
try washing again with baking soda, do not use hot water it may set the smell
    wash them again
    try white vinegar

Can a sharpie autographed T-shirt be removed when I wash it in the laundry?

I got my shirt autographed by Eyes Set To Kill, then it got dirty and I need to wash it, but I'm worried that it'll be removed. They're my first autographs and I REALLY don't want them to go away. Can a sharpie autographed T-shirt be removed when I wash it in the laundry?
It might not get removed completely, but the sharpie will definitely be faded, at least, and will fade more and more every time you wash it. I've had things like that happen to me, and I know how upsetting it is! Look at this website, it talks about it -

http://fibers.com/blog/will-a-sharpie-le鈥?/a>Can a sharpie autographed T-shirt be removed when I wash it in the laundry?
Hand wash it in a mild detergent, rinse well and hang dry, all should be well, just don't get hairspray or insect repellent on it, those two items will remove any ink or marker on any (thing) clothing.
It will be fine. Sharpies are permanent. REALLY permanent.
    Then DON'T wash it.
handwashing do the job easier than ruining it in the washers
    hand wash it

Do you have to add detergent when you use Woolite Fabric Wash Dark Laundry?

Or does Woolite fabric wash act as the soap substance?Do you have to add detergent when you use Woolite Fabric Wash Dark Laundry?
    it IS detergent.

but save yourself some money and just use a short dose of some cheap detergent instead (the only real difference between woolite and others is that it doesn't contain the enzymes that Tide and Wisk do, so does less damage to natural fibers like wool). use All and half0dose it and you'll end up with the same result.Do you have to add detergent when you use Woolite Fabric Wash Dark Laundry?
Woolite has been offering a line of regular detergents for some time. It is all you need unless you are using bleach or non-chlorine bleach to boost your wash.
It has always been my understanding that Woolite is the detergent.
Just use woolite fabric wash it is the detergent.
You do not need to add anything. Just use the Woolite like you would your normal detergent.

  • What are some around the house that you can add to your wash of laundry to make it smell extra good.....?

that will not ruin your clothes? Maybe something natural that can be used also........Is there a way to naturally stone wash jeans or alter them in other ways? How about dies to make them darker? Or a way to make your worn out jeans look like they should be worn out not just old. Thanks so much!!!What are some around the house that you can add to your wash of laundry to make it smell extra good.....?
You can add liquid scents to them. They have lavender and citrus types. They come in a small bottle and can be expensive though... or you can add vinegar to get rid of moldy scents if you left it in the washer too long. What are some around the house that you can add to your wash of laundry to make it smell extra good.....?
in the final rinse add dettol ,it leaves a pleasant scent as well as acting as healthy alternative

I don't know how common this type of business is in the States, but it certainly is used in the UK. When you think about what people pay just to have their shirts laundered, it can be very reasonable to have the rest of your laundry done as well.

    Good Luck!

What is the best laundry soap? And how do I wash clothes?

Ok, I know how to wash clothes but... here's the thing. I just got a new wardrobe and I would love my clothes to stay as new for as long as possible.

Usually I throw some free %26amp; clear detergent in the wash machine let it fill up and throw my clothes in, but it seems like their colors fade so fast it's depressing. What is the best laundry soap? And how do I wash clothes?
I have heard that it helps to wash and dry dark clothes inside out.

I wouldn't know, because clothes lead a tough life around our house. What is the best laundry soap? And how do I wash clothes?
raisin, the best laundry soap for longevity of clothing is 7th Generation.

As an alternative you can make your own:

Here is the recipe that I use:

-3 bars Fels Naptha Laundry Soap (or you can use Zote)

    -2 C. Baking Soda

    -2 C. Borax

    -2 C.Washing Soda

Finely Grate the soap I used a hand grater at first then I started using my food processor. Mix all of the ingredients well in a big container...you can reuse your empty store bought detergent container if you choose.

I use 1/4 C. to a 1/2 C. per load depending on the size and how dirty the clothes are. Some people say you can use 2-4 Tbs. but I don't know if it was because I had hard water but it just didn't get my clothes clean.

You can also add oxiclean to your whites anywhere from 1/4 C. to 1/2 C. (not on silk or wool though) and use Between 1/4 C. to 1 C. Vinegar to rinse depending on the size of the load. The vinegar is a natural fabric softener and also gets off any residue that may be left behind from the soap. And NO your clothes won鈥檛 smell like vinegar. If you are really worried you can still use your regular fabric softener just use half of what you would normally use.
I prefer to use ERA laundry soap to get the tough stains out, but I also pretreat with Spray N wash or Shout, and add oxiclean(generic) , and bleach for colored clothes at the beginning of the wash cycle, and either ammonia or vinegar during the rinse cycle, ammonia makes your whites, white.....I wash in warm water always. and don't use the dryer, air dry if at all possible.
